In addition to our general notary terms of service, the following terms and conditions apply specifically to all loan signing appointments scheduled with SF Scrivener Notary.
1. Services Provided SF Scrivener Notary provides professional notary signing agent services, which include the notarization of loan documents, the collection of signatures, and the secure return of completed documents.
2. Compensation and Fees You agree to compensate SF Scrivener Notary at a rate agreed upon per completed signing. This fee typically includes up to five notarizations. Any additional notarizations will be charged at a rate of $15 per signature, as permitted by California law.
The following surcharges may also apply:
Late-Evening Surcharge: An additional $75 fee will be applied to appointments scheduled after 6:00 p.m.
Weekend Surcharge: An additional $50 fee will be applied to all appointments on a Saturday or Sunday.
Travel Surcharge: An additional non-refundable $100 fee will be applied for any signing location in Marin, Alameda, or San Mateo counties. This fee is in addition to any agreed-upon loan signing fee and is non-refundable.
3. Reappointment Policy If a reappointment is necessary due to errors or omissions made by the signing company, escrow officer, or the signer, a reappointment fee of $75.00 will be charged to cover the cost of the additional trip.
4. Document Handling and Payment After the signing, SF Scrivener Notary will ensure the timely return of all executed documents. Scan-backs will be provided upon request. Payment for services is due within 30 days (Net 30) from the date of the invoice. A late fee of $25 or 10% of the invoice total, whichever is greater, will be charged for any payments received after the due date.
5. Non-Discrimination and Right to Refuse Service SF Scrivener Notary provides services without discrimination. We reserve the right to refuse service for any of the following reasons:
Safety concerns.
The signer is unable to be identified or lacks proper identification.
The signer appears unwilling to sign or does not understand the document.
The transaction is incomplete or the provided notarial wording does not comply with California state law.
To ensure fair scheduling and efficient service for all our clients, the following cancellation and late fee policies are strictly adhered to:
1. Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations with More Than 24 Hours Notice: If you cancel your appointment with more than twenty-four (24) hours' notice prior to the scheduled appointment time, no cancellation fee will be assessed. Any pre-payment made will be fully refunded within 5 business days.
Cancellations with Less Than 24 Hours Notice: Appointments canceled with less than twenty-four (24) hours' notice will result in the forfeiture of the full scheduled service payment. This policy applies regardless of the reason for cancellation.
2. No-Show Policy:
A "No-Show" occurs when the signer(s) and/or required documents are not available or ready at the scheduled appointment location within fifteen (15) minutes of the scheduled appointment time, and no communication has been received.
In the event of a No-Show, the full scheduled service payment will be forfeited.
3. Late Arrival Policy:
A fifteen (15) minute grace period will be extended from the scheduled appointment time.
Should we need to wait beyond this fifteen (15) minute grace period due to the signer(s) or necessary documents not being ready or available, we will charge a late fee of One Dollar ($1.00) for every minute of waiting time beyond the initial 15-minute grace period.
These late fees will be calculated and billed on-site and must be paid at the time of service via PayPal, Venmo, or cash.
Excessive waiting time (e.g., beyond 30 minutes from the scheduled appointment, inclusive of the grace period) may, at our discretion, be considered a No-Show and subject to the No-Show policy outlined above.
4. Incomplete Notarizations:
While we strive for successful notarizations, there are instances where a notarization cannot be completed due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g., signer lacks valid identification, signer is unwilling to sign, signer does not understand the document, document errors, etc.).
In such cases, we will still assess the full travel fee (if applicable) and a reasonable service fee for time and travel, which are non-refundable.
